With so much competition in the automotive industry, it is quite difficult to pick out one particular car manufacturer that is regarded as the “favourite” or the “biggest”. There are also a few surprises in that you might think some are rivals when in fact they are part of the same group. For example, many moons ago it was put to me by a good friend that Audi was a much more profitable and structured manufacturer than Volkswagen. His face was a picture when I informed him that VW were in fact the parent company of Audi and actually owned them! But this is the case for a number of others in the industry also and there seems to be this continuous business merry go round that sees certain manufacturers buy shares in other manufacturers. This is especially the case whenever a certain brand is in financial difficulties. Volkswagen are often seen to be one of the leaders in this area of increasing their overall presence in the marketplace as they have, on more than a few occasions, dipped into their pockets and invested in either up and coming manufacturers or the competition. Of course as consumers and car enthusiasts most of us will look at Volkswagen from one point of view only (the cars that they sell) but for others, the business side of things is equally as interesting. On the subject of cars though, the company has produced many new and used Volkswagen cars over the years and continue to be at the forefront of the industry in terms of vehicle design and technological innovations.

Vauxhall have been around for as long as I can remember and to this day, they continue to make cars that are of extreme relevance in line with the demands of the industry. Take the used Vauxhall Astra for example; this is a car that has been around the block more than its fair share of times and is regarded by many as being Vauxhall’s main and most value vehicle. It provides a little bit of everything; space, speed and power and it is just one of those cars that are liked by the masses. Then there is the Corsa; a small and compact vehicle that is ever present on the nations’ road. The Corsa has been a feasible choice for many buyers thanks to its overall structure and the fact that it is a reliable and fun car to drive. So what of the others in the Vauxhall range? Well there is the Tigra, which is greatly increasing its overall popularity with consumers as it begins to cement its place alongside the competition in its class. A nippy and compact unit, the new and used Vauxhall Tigra is one that commands respect and will suit the needs of inner city drivers that need to get from A to B, run errands and do so in style. Another noticeable unit that Vauxhall has in its armoury is the Zafira, which is very much a family orientated vehicle that is regarded by many to be the very best in its class. The sheer size and performance of this particular Vauxhall are just some of the reasons why so many give it this pedestal and based on sales number alone, it is hard to come to any other conclusion. So all in all Vauxhall have it covered; sports cars, city cars and family cars – what more could you possible want from a manufacturer?!

I must admit that when the old used Smart cars were first introduced I was one of the many people that didn’t take them too seriously; a flash in the pan, they won’t last long kind of guy. Maybe this was because I, like many others, of the impression that these mini-type vehicles were left behind in the 1960’s; yet suddenly had resurfaced promising to assist the environment. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the iconic used Mini’s of yesteryears, but things have certainly evolved since then and even Mini themselves have re-designed their main unit to fit in with modern times. So when the used Smart car was introduced, it appeared at first glance that it was a step backwards. Of course, divulging further into what the unit offered provided a much better insight into the real offerings that Mercedes-Benz Smart had constructed. The saying that “you should never judge a book by its cover” was clearly valid and pertinent in this situation and I have since grown to find new and used Smart cars a pleasant and satisfying choice given the constant increases in fuel prices. Also, given the fact that the new government (as well as the past regime) are now in a constant battle with car manufacturers to build more eco-friendly automobiles; it has made the profile of Mercedes-Benz Smart grow to high heights. So if you are thinking about buying a new car and fuel efficiency and running costs are in mind; purchasing a Smart car will make for a decent choice.

These days it appears that all car manufacturers have one particular vehicle in their range that can be described as being their flagship and most recognised vehicle. In the case of SEAT it is the Ibiza that is without doubt the stand out model and has been for quite some time. So why is this? Why is the used SEAT Ibiza the number one choice for SEAT consumers? Well the older version of the vehicle took the market by storm. At the time it was new, fresh and innovative as it breathed new life into the industry – and also gave the manufacturer a much needed boost. So it is because of this that the used SEAT Ibiza became such a valued and important member of the industry, which has now for many years been at the front of the queue for SEAT car buyers. And then it was time for the new version of the car, which was introduced alongside the new Leon and Alhambra models; all of which were aggressively promoted / marketed by SEAT, which contributed heavily to their sales numbers. The new style marked huge improvements on the old used SEAT Ibiza and once again it became the vehicle of choice. This was made even more impressive given the fact that it was released alongside those listed above, which were also brilliantly-designed and manufactured vehicles. Getting back to the Ibiza though and the updated model was every much as characteristic as its predecessor but it just had those little extras that is required from more modern day cars.
